MY WORK: Past, Present and ...
This photo may be not the most impressive one I could choose as entrance, but it has a special meaning.
I took it in July, year 1992, it was the first time I tried to go alone to test if I could survive in an English speaking country. Taking in account I came from French and I was basically self learned in English, it was a challenge. I decided go to Dublin, Ireland, more than one month. May be in the future I´ll show how I saw this country, now I only bring this one. It was in the old town, close to Grafton St a corner I thought interesting. Those times I used slides, now I have digitaliced all my photos.
But the story ends in 1995 when I did some course in professional photography and in a contest I won the Travel Award to the best photo with this one. I was frankly surprised, I was not bad, but I had better ones. Anyway, this gave me the opportunity of doing a Master as part of the prize plus lot of photographic material.
So, no wonder I remember this photo with special affection. And it is a good way to begin this page about my photographic adventure.
Esta foto puede no ser la más impresionante que podría haber elegido como entrada, pero tiene un significado especial.
La tomé en julio del año 1992. Era la primera vez que intentaba ir solo a ver si podía sobrevivir en un país de habla inglesa. Teniendo en cuenta que venía del francés y que básicamente era autodidacta en inglés, fue un desafío. Decidí ir a Dublín, Irlanda, más de un mes. Quizás en un futuro muestre mis recuerdos de este país, ahora solo traigo este. En el casco antiguo, cerca de Grafton St la esquina me pareció interesante. Por entonces usaba diapositivas, aunque ahora he digitalizado todas mis fotos.
Pero la historia termina en 1995 cuando hice un curso de fotografía profesional y en un concurso gané el premio a la mejor Fotografía de Reportaje con esta foto. Estaba francamente sorprendido, no estaba mal, pero consideraba que las tenía mejores. De todos modos, esto me dió la oportunidad de hacer un Máster como parte del premio más material fotográfico.
No es extraño que recuerde esta foto con especial cariño. Y por tanto una perfecta para empezar este recorrido por mi aventura con la fotografía.
